私の海外型紙の購入方法です。サイズ選び、用語なども含めて書きますね。購入先は、eBay、Etsy、McCall's のサイトなどです。私個人と各サイトとは何の関係もありません。アフィリエイト嫌いです。本当に自分の気に入ったモノやコトを書きたいので。

ヴィンテージ型紙のサイズについて

● 海外の型紙は、ヴィンテージ・現代ものにかかわらず、サイズ別に異なる商品です。日本のようにSとL が同じ封筒に入っていることは余程ルーズなシルエットのカフタンのようなもの、あるいはパターン数の少ないもの以外あまりないです。

● 時代によりサイズと実寸の取り合わせが全く違うので、サイズ番号では選べないです。バスト寸法(ヌード寸、というかブラの上から測る)で必ず選びます。アメリカのバスト・サイズのインチ表示をセンチ(概算)に直すと、

ヴィンテージ型紙はサイズ展開が細かいことにお気づきでしょうか。だからフィットするんです〜。型紙にもよりますが、バスト・サイズは日本のMサイズくらいまで、1インチ、2.5センチきざみで型紙が展開します。

日本の市販の型紙、あるいは洋裁本の写し型紙をよく見てください。前身頃の半分でMサイズはSサイズより通常1センチ大きくなっています。つまり身体全体では1x4=4センチ単位で、S>M>L と大きくなって行くのがほとんどです。元々型紙には緩みが入っている上に、この海外型紙の2.5センチきざみと日本の型紙の4センチきざみの差は緩みをさらに増やすので、「日本の市販の型紙で作ったのは、出来上がりの緩みが多くて何だか身体にフィットしな〜い」理由のひとつ (もうひとつは、見頃を絞るダーツの有無)だと思います。もっとサイズ展開を細かくして欲しいです。

私は日本の型紙は92才の叔母に洋服を作る時に利用しています。緩みが多い方がお年寄りには楽だし、背中などが丸くなってくるし、脱ぎ着し易いので。

用語について

● ヴィンテージとは、アンティークのように100年を越えて、古い故に価値が高まったものではなく、単に古いものという意味です。日本では1950年代や1960年代のレトロな古物、ミッドセンチュリーものを指すことが一般的ですが、英語のヴィンテージ型紙の世界では、1920年代から割と最近の2000年代までの幅広いものも含みます。ですので、あの1980年代の巨大肩幅ブカブカシルエットの型紙もヴィンテージとなります。

● 英語では「ワンピース」とは呼ばず、「Dress」となります。

● 商品説明で「OOP」とよく出てきます。OOPとはOut of Printの略で、既に製造中止の型紙のことです。割と最近の現代ものパターンでよく使われます。ヴィンテージはOOPに決まっていますよね。

● Used (使用済み)とか Uncut (切られていない) Factory Folded (工場で畳まれたまま、つまり切られていない)など。飾っておくのではなく、使うので、私は切ってあるのが手間が省けていいですが、神経質な方は未使用を。

私のヴィンテージ型紙購入先

● eBay はEtsyができるまではヴィンテージものの独壇場でした。今ではeBay(14000アイテム)よりEtsy(80000アイテム)の方がヴィンテージ型紙の数は多いです。ですが、今でも内部での検索はeBayの方が遥かにし易いです。一旦ウォッチリストに入れると、そこから「似たようなもの」という括りで検索できるので、型紙のようにブランド名と4桁の数字で決まっているものは正確に検索できます。その中でサイズの合ったもの、値段の安いもの、信頼できる評価の高い売り手を選びます。

● 何十年も同じブランドで型紙がでているので、4桁の数字は複数回別の型紙に使われています。なので、別の型紙が検索であがって来たりしますが、写真で判断してくださいね。

Vintage Sewing Pattern: Butterick 4699 Two-Way Wrap Dress

Printed in 1968. What an interesting pattern to sew! Basically the dress is just a sheet of fabric with 3 armholes. There is no darts at all. When I found this pattern, I couldn't resist adding it into my collections. Well, I have to admit that I really like unusual, some sort of strange patterns.

Review of this vintage pattern

- Extremely simple to sew.

- Long binding was a bit boring to sew.

- Next time, I will make this with two different fabrics to be reversible so that I don't have to stitch all the way around and all I have to bind will be just armholes.

- I had concerns of this pattern whether it would fit well because there was no darts at all. However, the shape was very nice when I wear. Overall, the pattern is well designed.

Vintage Sewing Pattern: McCall's 8846 Karate Suit ヴィンテージ型紙

I made Sushi Chef Costume - Sushi Chef Coat, Long Pants and Snood - for my sister using this vintage pattern printed in 1967. The patterns are for Karate Suit, Snood, Slippers, and Beach Mat, all for beach.

私のコレクションの一部、1967年のマッコール社製ヴィンテージ型紙です。空手スーツ、スヌード、サンダル、ビーチマットの型紙セットです。

Pattern Review of this Vintage Pattern

- Easy to make but snood section of paper direction was not well written and was hard to understand.

- I used tapes instead of making strings.

- I changed the way of front body wrapping as the it is wrong for Japanese. The wrap should be seen as "Y" or it is for only dead people in coffins for funerals in Japan!

- I made the belt but it didn't look right when I tried so I placed tapes outside as well to tie. That looked a lot better.

- Probably because the pattern is published in 1967, the required fabrics only include 36" and 45" wide materials not mentioning wider ones.

- I think this suit is good for elderly or people who need support as it is easy to wear or to be changed by others. Pants have no zipper but elastic.

How to Organize Sewing Patterns using Evernote 型紙の整理方法

You are almost drawn in the increasing sewing patterns collected? This is my way of organizing 148 collected patterns using Evernote!

エバーノートを使った型紙の整理・管理方法です。ヴィンテージ型紙が大好き。現代物も好き。なので現在のところ数えたら148も集めてしまっていました。

The incredible benefits of using Evernote for your patterns are:

- Easy to search what you have;

- Easy to get the needed yardage even outside at a fabric shop if you use iPhone or smart phone! Don't buy more than enough yardage when you encounter a nice fabric without any intention to buy by chance!

エバーノートの素晴らしさは、自分のノートを検索できるところ。特に写真上の文字まで認識して検索してくれるのは不思議。

- 何を持っているのかサーチが簡単。

- 出先でもスマホで呼び出し検索できるし、用尺の確認ができるので、突然ステキな生地を見つけた時にも諦める必要もないし、不必要な用尺を買わなくてすみます。

When you make a note in your Evernote, you need to do the following:

- Enter the brand name and its number into the title.

- Enter all information into the title. For instance, If the pattern includes many of animal dolls, enter all the names such as Elephant, Cat, Dog, Frog, etc. Or if you like the collar of the dress, write "collar" in the title as well. Next time you want to check some of cute collar dresses, it will show up. By this, your search will be extremely easy and correct!

- Take two photos. Make sure to take FIRST the back of the pattern envelope (mark the size by pencil) and NEXT the front. Because Evernote shows the last photo on the list of notes, you need to take the front photo at last so that it is easy to recognize by just looking.

 

エバーノートで型紙整理するときの注意点

- ノートのタイトルに型紙のメーカー名と番号を入れます。

- 更にノートのタイトルに検索のために必要なコトバを全部入れます。例えば型紙がぬいぐるみで複数の動物がある場合、ドール、カバ、イヌ、ウサギ、カエル、などと書き込みます。この時自分でルールを決めて、動物の名前は全部カタカナ、などにしておきます。ウサギだけ検索！に対応できます。

- ノート用の写真を2枚、型紙の封筒の裏と表を撮ります。必ず用尺情報のある裏を最初に。エバーノートでは、最後に撮った写真が一覧リスト表示の際に出てくるので。

 

To organize real sewing patterns, file them based upon the manufacturers' name and number... McCalls, Simplicity, etc. Once you get the number from Evernote, go into that file!

実物の型紙はメーカー別、番号別にしておきます。エバーノートで検索してから実際の型紙を取り出します。ね、便利でしょ?

So Cute Sachet! かわいいサシェ作り方 海外の無料型紙 Tutorial

ランジェリー(コルセット)型のフェルトで作るとても可愛いサシェ、手作り手芸です。バッグにつけてリップクリームホルダーにいいなと思って作りました。無料パターンはこちらのCurblyのサイトからプリントしました。中にラベンダーを入れて普通のサシェ、匂い袋にしてプレゼントにしてもいいですね。

I made a a cute corset sachet for lip balm holder, thanks to this free pattern from Curbly.

一年中リップクリームが必要な私はすぐに取り出せるものがいいなと。

I need a lip balm all year long...

簡単な刺繍をします。いわゆる半返し縫いの要領で。小さくて、刺繍部分があまりないので簡単です。

これを中表に半分に折って、手縫いかミシンで縫います。

型紙をまち針でとめて、型紙の外側2〜3mmのところを縫いますが、一番上のところは開けておきます。

まち針はいつも通り縫う方向と逆向きに刺します。こうすると縫いながらまち針を外しやすいし、イタタっとならずにすみます。

裏返してピンキング鋏でカットし、金具を通したサテンのリボンを縫い付けます。金具は近所の釣り道具屋さんの閉店セールの時に、何かに使えそう〜と買っておいたもので、何に使うものか分かりませんが、上下がクルクルと回転するのでリボンがねじり絡まることはないです。

胸のところに小さくリボンを縫い付けます。

Fold it facing the right side together and place the pattern. Sew the outside of the pattern, say 2-3mm as seen in the photo, leaving the top open.

Turn inside out and cut the top by pinking shears and sew a ribbon as strings and a front decoration.

パジャマ入れ向きのぬいぐるみ無料型紙: 海外のブログやサイトから Dolls Free Patterns suitable for Pajama Bag

どちらかというと、ペタッ、クタッとしたぬいぐるみの方がパジャマ入れにはいいと思います。というのは、壁にかけるよりベッドに置いて子どもがぬいぐるみを抱きしめたり、パジャマを取り出して着た後にも、ベッドで一緒に寝られる方が、私は好きなので。そういう基準で選んだ海外の無料型紙です。私が過去に作ったパジャマバッグとその作り方はこちらからどうぞ。

I personally think that the pajama bag doll patterns should be flat and simple. The reason is that I want my niece to hug the bag in the bed rather than hanging on the wall. Even when she pulled out her pajama, she could still sleep with the doll by putting the head on her pillow together with the flat belly under the blanket. ①ハンプティ ダンプティ！ 可愛すぎです。

服が2枚の生地になっていますので、その間にファスナーをつけて、頭には綿を詰めて服との境目をミシンで縫うとパジャマバッグになると思います。足にも綿を詰めてね。ソーイング初心者には靴はなくてもいいと思います。無料型紙ダウンロードはこちらから。

 

②ビンテージ、レトロなネコ

ビンテージのドールが大好きです。これぞパジャマ入れ向き。パーツがたった2枚、簡単で初心者向きです。同じパターンを2枚裁って、ファスナー部分(例えば足の下の平らな部分)を決めてファスナーを縫い付ける、あるいはマジックテープをつける。2枚を中表に縫う。頭に綿を詰めて首を表からミシン縫い、尻尾も同様に綿を詰めて尻尾の根元を表からまっすぐ縫う。顔や足の線を手縫いするかペンで描く。それも面倒なら、顔や足を縫ったり描いたりするのは諦めても、一応ネコには見えます。身体のところは袋としてパジャマを入れる。無料型紙はこちらから。

 

③ぞうさん

Vintage Sewing Pattern: Advance 6931 女の子用かわいいパジャマ入れ型紙 海外のビンテージ型紙

 

私の海外のパターンコレクションのひとつです。1950年代のレトロなぬいぐるみのビンテージ型紙です。値段が35セントと、時代を物語っていますね～。ネコのぬいぐるみをちょっと加工してパジャマバッグにしました。

Advance社は1933年から1966年まであったアメリカの型紙会社です。大手小売チェーンのJ.C.Pennyの専属販売ブランドだったそうです。

This vintage sewing pattern is one of my collections. It was printed probably in 1950s by Advance Company which no longer exists.

I made a cute pajama bag using this pattern for my niece, modifying the cat's belly to be able to open with a zipper.

女の子用かわいいネックピロー型紙 Girl's Travel Neck Pillow Sewing Pattern Sew Baby F853

私の海外型紙コレクションのひとつ。ヴィンテージではなく現代のパターンです。うさぎの他に、ネコと羊さん。

ヴィンテージも現代ものも、型紙は増え続けてしまい、100くらいあるかな～。徐々にこのブログで紹介します。作品と型紙は分けて載せていきます。そうすると後でSewing patterns のラベルをクリックすれば型紙だけリストアップできて便利かなと思っています。

これはアメリカのマッコール社傘下の型紙会社、Butterick社のブランドのひとつ、Sew Baby F853。

I used rabbit one for my little niece. I love this pattern. It is very easy to make and so cute!

I have probably around 100 patterns now, both vintage and modern.... I will introduce those and the result of my hand making in this blog little by little.

Winnie the Pooh: Vintage Pattern McCall's 8087 ヴィンテージ型紙

One of my vintage sewing pattern collections! It's very old.... Printed in1966? Tigger must have got a cosmetic surgery by now. Today's Tigger looks very different but I prefer this guy to the new face. My niece asked me to make each one for her birthday present every year so I have made Pooh and Tigger so far. This year, I have to sew Eeyore. When it's done, I'll upload him on this blog. I uploaded!

プーさんたちのビンテージ型紙。古い古い1966年ころの海外の型紙です。プーさんとTiggerはすでに作成済みで、毎年ひとつずつ姪の誕生日プレゼントにリクエストされて作っています。今年はイーヨー。できたらアップします。顔が今のと違う～。特にTiggerは、別人のよう。昔の方が可愛いな。

私の知る限り、販売されたくまのプーさんとその仲間たちの型紙は、今となってはビンテージになったこの型紙のみです。ディズニーが初めて映画化したころに、プロモーション用にマッコールにパターンの製作と販売を許可したものと思われます。
