Champagne cork dolls wearing beret Tutorial: ベレー帽のシャンパンコルク人形

 

Little Singers of the Champagne Cork Dolls that I made months ago. After I went to the actual little kids' concert, I wanted to make such cute singers who were wearing red beret. I used acrylic gouache (Liquitex) on the body and a permanent ink pen on the face.

How to make a beret:

1. Cut two circles from a piece of red felt. The diameter is 2".
2. Take one of them and cut out a small circle, 3/4" diameter, at the center using scissor.
3. Put two fabrics together and sew along the outcircle, leaving the seam allowance of 1/4". I hand sewed.
4. Turn it over from the 3/4" hole. The hole looks small for the head but the felt fabric will stretch out. Rather than too big and loose, keep the hole small.
5. On the top of the berets, punch a very small hole by ripper or piercing punch.
6. Make a felt string of 1" length. Fold into a half and pull it a little bit out from the pierced hole. No need to sew. If it's hard to pull out, use a thread with a needle and put it in the folded space and pull the needle first and the string will come out.
7. Put the beret on the doll head by stretching the hole.

ベレー帽作り方

1. フエルトを直径5センチに2枚切る。
2. 1枚の中心に直径2センチの円を切り抜く。
3. 2枚を合わせてまわりを縫う。縫い代は6ミリくらい。手縫いしました。
4. 穴から表に返します。かぶせる時に穴が伸びるので小さめに。
5. 目打ちでトップの真ん中に穴を開けます。
6. 2.5センチ長さの紐をフエルトで作る。半分で折り穴から少し出す。やりにくければ、針に糸を通して紐に絡めて穴から引っ張り出す。縫い止める必要はありません。
7. くり抜いた穴を拡げながらコルク人形にかぶせる。

 

My first cork doll. I saw this cork chef at a bakery shop. As he was so cute I asked for selling him but it didn't happen. I took a photo in my brain there, and here I made! The hat is a paper.

コルク人形第一号。パン屋さんで見て譲って欲しいとお願いしましたが叶わず。顔と衣装を頭に記憶してきて作ったもの。帽子は紙です。

My handmade frog wearing beret. He loves wines as I do! I made the wine bottle with flour and water. The wine glass is made with a pin and a piece of pill sheet. I patterned the frog so many times... He is a bit chubby.

カエルは型紙から起こしました。ワインボトルは夜中に急に作りたくなって、手持ちの小麦粉と水で作りました。ワイングラスはピンと薬の入っていたシート。

Dye fabric with bubble packaging: Tutorial プチプチで手ぬぐいを染める方法

Polka dots! 水玉模様に染まります。

 

Materials you need

• Cotton fabric to dye 布 晒し木綿など
• Bubble packaging プチプチ
• Old newspaper 古新聞
• Acrylic gouache (I used Liquitex) アクリル絵の具
• A sponge brush スポンジブラシ
• A cardboad tube (a plastic wrap tube will work)。ラップの芯など

How to dye

Put a sheet of bubble packaging on some old newspapers.

Fully paint acrylic gouache on the bubble packaging with a sponge brush. Make sure it is a bit larger than the fabric.

プチプチを古新聞の上に置き、アクリル絵の具を水で溶いてスポンジブラシで塗る。

Roll the fabric. Here I found it was difficult to roll down due to a lack of stiffness. Please first roll the fabric onto the cardboard tube so that it goes easily on the sheet.

Slowly pull it out from the bubble packaging and let it dry completely.


布を巻いて端から広げていく。ここでちょっと失敗。ラップの芯など硬いものに巻いてからしてください。

Wipe the sheet with a wet old towel. Go into the second color. I chose light blue. Repeat the same process.

Hang it and dry. That's it! I checked Liquitex website. They say that the dyed fabric should be left at least for 72 hours befor any wash.

プチプチを濡れタオルで拭いておきます。染めた布は干しておきます。乾いたら2色目のアクリル絵の具を塗って、1度目と同じように染めます。アクリル絵の具の海外メーカー、リキテックス社のホームページには、少なくとも72時間は定着のため洗わないように、とありました。その後手でゴシゴシ水洗いしましいたが、大丈夫でした。

How about waving patterns? The sponge brush works perfect as it's sharpend edge makes the line sharp as well. Take a look of my experiment above.

波模様もできるのでは、と思って挑戦。スポンジブラシの先が鋭角にカットしてあるので、すごくキレイに幅広模様ができました！

Super Easy Beach Bag from Beach Ball Tutorial: 超簡単プールバッグ 作り方100円ショップ

100円ショップのビーチボールで作るプールバッグの作り方です。

プールバッグ作って、と言われて考えたもの。

I made this beach bag several years ago as a gift to my niece. Sooooooo easy!

Here is the tutorial.

1. Buy a beach ball, maybe you can find it at a dollar shop. I bought two of them at 100 yen at Tokyo's 100 yen shop, a sort of a dollar shop seen in the USA.
2. Cut about 1/4 part from the top. Fold the edge and sew the hem by sewing machine with a non-stick foot.
3. Make holes and put eyelets. Make sure the number of eyelets are even. If you increase the number of eyelets, you may not need to sew.
4. Put a string. Voila! DIY!

<Tips>

If you don't feel like to use a sewing machine, you can increase the number of eyelets so that the hem stays without stitching. No need to put a string through all the eyelets. Instead, leave some of them as additional embellishment.

 

100円ショップのビーチボールで作るプールバッグです。プールバッグ作って、と言われて考えたもの。見たときに、ビーチボールの形がまるでバッグのようだ、と思って作りました。

1. ビーチボールを用意する。私のは100円ショップで2個で100円でした。
2. 上から1/4くらいのところをカット。折ってミシンで縫う。押さえがねはテフロン製のビニールに張り付かないもので。お持ちでなければ、裏ワザで、普通の押さえがねの下にセロテープかメンディングテープを貼り付けます。これで滑るはずです。大雑把な縫い目でok。(ミシンがなくてもできます。下のヒントをご参照ください)。
3. ハトメを付ける。数は偶数にしてください。
4. 紐を通す。おしまい！

<ヒント>を追加しま～す。

カットしたところをミシンで縫うのが面倒なら、ハトメの数を増やせばめくれて来ないと思います。増えたハトメに全部紐を通す必要はありません。飾りのようにすればいいです。100円ショップにハトメを打つ道具もあるので、ぜひ作ってみてくださいね。もともと球形なので、折りかえす端の方が本体より少し小さくなるので、うまく折れなければ折った部分に小さく切り込みを入れてください。
